Great fresh food, perfect chips and friendly staff. Really enjoyed my battered sausage chips and curry sauce thank you
Beautiful food. Fantastic service. Highly recommend
Where do we start … opened in 1938 and you can tell - an overall positive and joyful experience, obvious errors yet no where is great. The batter is one of their errors - the fish could have stayed in the deep fat fryer for another minute, resulting in a more crisp coating that reflects the decency of the overall meal. The fish therefore was a little on the soggy side, causing it to get stuck to the paper which was however wrapped well (unlike most places these days). Another issue was the girth and voluptuousity of the flaky fish, it could be said it was caught back in 1938 with how small and skinny it was - a real disappointment since the taste was on point. However what we had was tasty and managed to tingle the tastebuds on our tongues. The sausage was alright - nothing special yet still nothing not special, a nice meaty porker with a semi thick skin, good girth and a hard crispy batter - sounds just like a good Friday night. The curry sauce was more like schools rice pudding, this however was not a bad aspect. Though having a thick chunky sauce we managed to get double the flavour and avoid the limb chips and fish. The chips were pale and needed a good holiday in Ibiza to get a tan - yet, yet again they were still pleasant and were drained well, this preventing a pool of oil from forming. Would we come again? Yes
This has become my new go-to chip shop! Fish and Chips were excellent and great portion sizes! And although it was busy, service was quick and friendly. Lovely new owners, cant wait for my next chippy tea!
